A physiotherapy website that explains the first appointment

Someone looking for a physiotherapist is in pain and has probably been putting it off. The thing standing between them and booking is not price. It is not knowing what happens when they walk in.

Describe the appointment, not the profession

Clinic websites tend to explain what physiotherapy is. Nobody searching for a physiotherapist needs that. What they need is the next fifty minutes: how long it lasts, whether they will have to undress, whether there will be exercises, whether it will hurt, and whether they will leave with a plan.

Four short paragraphs answering those is more persuasive than any amount of writing about evidence-based practice, and it is the section that most reliably turns a reader into a booking.

The sections that matter for a clinic

What happens in a first appointment
Length, assessment, hands-on treatment, exercises, and what you leave with. Written to a nervous reader.
Conditions, in the words patients use
Back pain, sciatica, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, running injuries, post-surgical recovery. Not "musculoskeletal dysfunction".
Fees, including follow-ups
Initial assessment and subsequent sessions, separately. Hiding the price loses more bookings than the price does.
Insurers and direct billing
Which schemes you are registered with and whether you invoice them directly. This is a search in itself.
Who the practitioners are
Names, registration numbers, and a sentence each on what they are particularly good at. Patients pick a person.
Whether a referral is needed
Usually not, and saying so removes the most common reason people delay booking.

What it costs to have built

$199 once for the build, $15 a month for hosting, and from $35 a year for the web address, registered in the clinic's name. You see the finished site before anything is charged.

What you actually end up owning

Most ways of getting a website end with you renting one. Cancel a builder subscription and the pages stop existing; there is nothing to take with you because there was never a file. That is the trade you make for the monthly price, and plenty of people make it knowingly.

This is not that. What gets built for you is a WordPress theme: a real folder of files, with its own style.css, index.php and functions.php, that installs through Appearance, Themes, Add New, Upload Theme on any WordPress host in the world. We host it for you at $15 a month so you never have to think about it, and the web address is registered in your name, not ours.

If you ever want to leave, ask for a copy and it is yours: the theme file, the address, the content. You can hand it to any developer and they will recognise exactly what they are looking at, because it is an ordinary WordPress theme and not a proprietary export nobody else can open.

How the build actually runs

You describe the business
The name, what you do, and anything a customer should know. One or two sentences is the whole brief. No sitemap, no wireframe, no discovery call.
The site is built and written
Design, words, layout and licensed photography chosen for your trade, composed into a finished page in about a minute. You see it before you spend anything.
You change what you want to
Click any line of text and type over it. Swap any photo for one of yours, which always looks better. Delete a section you do not want.
You pick the address and go live
Search for the address you want, we register it in your name, point it at the site, secure it with a certificate, and email you when it is live.

What one of these looks like finished

A physiotherapy clinic, built by the same code that would build yours. Nothing here is a mock-up: the frame below is a live page, rendered by the same code that builds a customer's site.

Questions

Can patients book online?

The site takes enquiries by email and shows your phone number, and it can link to whatever booking system the clinic already uses. It does not run a diary of its own.

Can I write about specific conditions?

Yes, and that is where the search traffic is. Be careful to describe what you treat and how, rather than making clinical claims about outcomes, and keep within your professional body's advertising guidance.

Is patient data stored anywhere?

No. The contact form sends an email to the address you give us and nothing clinical is collected or kept on the site.

Can two practitioners have their own sections?

Yes. Add a paragraph and a photograph for each from the editor, at any time.
